Leticia "Letty" Vélez started Chicago Mini Bus Travel (CMBT) in 2004. Determination and vision were evident in the company's first year when Ms. Vélez doubled the fleet and increased sales to more than two million dollars. From mail and fax campaigns to aligning the company's mission and vision, Ms. Vélez engaged in many roles. Even with her supervision of marketing, operations, reservations, accounting, and business development, she never lost her focus on the client. Today, with 15 buses, 35 employees, a strong management team and a strategic plan for growth, CMBT is focused on providing its clients with a safe, reliable and affordable option for transportation needs.
Ms. Vélez shares her success with others through mentoring and connecting with Latinas. Some of her board memberships that have a positive influence on Latinas include: Mujeres Latinas en Accion, The Latino Coalition, National Latina Business Women Association, and the Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce.
Ms. Vélez was recent recognized as a graduate of the 2012 Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Scholarship Program and as a 2012 Panelist for the United States Chamber of Commerce Conference.
Ms. Vélez’s looks for ways to have a positive impact on her customers each day and promotes her company with Superior Service and Professionalism, and Empowerment.
