Latino Leaders Network (LLN)

On November 20th, the Latino Leaders Network brought together leaders from across the country to present U.S. Secretary of Labor, Hilda Solis with the Nambe Eagle Leadership Award for outstanding contributions to the community at the Latino Leaders Luncheon Series. The quarterly event provides a platform for prominent Latino leaders to share their personal story of obstacles overcome to achieve success. Additional speakers were: Founder and Chairman, Mickey Ibarra; Gus West, board chair of the Hispanic Institute and California Senator Alex Padilla.

Hispanic Unity

On September 12, Hispanic Unity held the “Noche de Estrellas Annual Gala” at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood, FL. Television personalities and other celebrities including world renowned Cuban artist, Carlos Luna inundated the event that evening. Hispanic Unity’s 2009 Amigos Awards recipients included, internationally recognized, Maestro James Brooks Bruzzese and long-time corporate supporter, Winn Dixie Stores. Receiving the 2009 Gracias Award were Kenneth Brown and Elizabeth Sanjuan donors to the agency, as well as friends and volunteers.


The National Hispana Leadership Institute (NHLI)

At the 2009 Executive Leadership Training Conference & Mujer Awards held November 5-6 in Albuquerque, NM, the National Hispana Leadership Institute (NHLI) provided cutting-edge leadership and professional development training to more than 500 Latina leaders from across the country. In addition, Latinas under 30 were also recognized for their accomplishments as rising stars. This year, NHLI honored journalist Soledad O’Brien with a special award for her efforts to advance the Latino Story.
