National Council of La Raza (NCLR) 26th Annual Capital Awards
On March 5th the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) hosted its 26th annual Capital Awards gathering more than 700 leaders, government officials, and community activists from across the nation. The gala recognizes elected officials who have demonstrated commitment to promoting legislation and public policies that benefit Latinos among their constituencies and throughout the country.

National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO)
On February 26 the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) hosted the Edward R. Roybal Legacy Gala at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington D.C. More than 25 members of the U.S. House of Representatives were in attendance at the event. The Edward R. Roybal Award for Outstanding Public Service is presented annually to an individual who is a devoted public servant to the nation and the Latino community. NALEO’s 2013 recipient, U.S. Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, has advocated on behalf of Florida’s most vulnerable populations for more than 30 years, giving the people she serves a voice. The award pays tribute to the organization’s founder and President Emeritus, the late Congressman Edward R. Roybal.

Ford Driving Dreams Tour Awards Reception
The Ford Driving Dreams Awards reception held February 28, 2013 at Irving ISD Administration Building is part of the Ford Driving Dreams Tour, a year-long education initiative that promotes on-time high school graduation in partnership with Irving Independent School District. The FDD Tour provides peer-to-peer support programs, scholarships, motivational pep rallies and the “What Drives Your Dream” contest.
