LATINA Style, Inc. hosted its 20th Annual LATINA Style Business Series Tour in San Francisco on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco airport hotel. Marking its 133rd stop, the Business Series begun with opening remarks from Robert E. Bard, president & CEO of LATINA Style, Inc., and Lory Burgos, Senior Consultant, Enterprise Diverse Marketing, Nationwide. Also, 12 times Emmy-Award® winner Sandra Cervantes, news anchor for Telemundo 48 served as the Mistress of Ceremonies.
Participants had the opportunity to network, learn about business ownership and partake in career development seminars designed to benefit Latina professionals and entrepreneurs. The Essentials of a Successful Business panel was moderated by Jolynn Vallejo, Director of LatinSF. As an entrepreneur herself, Vallejo started her own company at age 20 and built a career in music business, recruitment and public relations. Panelists included: Tong Quin, Deputy District Director, SBA San Francisco; Jennifer Henrie-Brown, Stakeholder Liaison Specialist, IRS; Rene M. Sanchez, VP & Business Banking Specialist II, Comerica Bank, and Angel Cardoz, Director, SF Small Business Development Center.
The Successful Marketing Strategies: Promote Your Business and Yourself panel was moderated by Victoria Sánchez De Alba, President, De Alba Communications. Speakers included: Steven Eiger, Lead Channel
Manager, Business Marketing, EVP of Communications, HACEMOS, AT&T, and Martha Hernandez, Founder and CEO of madeBos, Inc.
Presented by Nationwide®, the For Your Leadership Side custom session was conducted by Lory Burgos.
The Cyber Security: Today’s Threat panel was moderated by LATINA Style Inc., CEO Robert Bard. Speakers included: John Shoup, SVP – Fraud Investigations Director, Comerica Bank, and Frank Castaneria, Cybersecurity Advisor, PCI Practice, AT&T.
The Entrepreneurs Spotlight: Learning Strategies for Success panel was moderated by Nancy Rosales, Owner, Founder & Co-Owner, NR Consulting, Pepito’s Paletas, and former LATINA Style Entrepreneur of the Year for 2014.
Panelists included: Nancy Marmolejo, Owner, Founder, Talent and Genius; Marisela Barbosa-Cortez, Vice-President, Monarch Engineers; Karla Garcia, President, Bris’s Creations, and Griselda Quezada-Chavez, President and CEO, GQC Global Group.
The successful Latina business owners shared lessons learned, insights gained through their experiences, challenges encountered, and ways to overcome obstacles.
During the Awards Luncheon, Pati Jinich, Chef, Author and TV Host, provided the keynote message, Marisela Barbosa-Cortez was recognized with the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award for the San Francisco bay area, and the Latino Business Action Network was honored with the “Advocate of the Year” award for their Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative (SLEI), accepting this recognition were Professor Jerry Porras Chairman Emeritus, and Mark L. Madrid, CEO, of Latino Business Action Network (LBAN).
