With over 28 years in the health care industry, Díaz has acquired vast experience in the areas of Pharmacy Benefit Manager sales (PBM), managed health care (HMO, PPO, POS, ACOs) pharmaceutical sales (infusion and high-end specialty drugs) contract negotiations & administration and operation of large physician and specialty groups, clinics and ancillary facilities.

Currently, she is responsible for the Health & Wellness business development, pharmacy sales & innovation for the southeast and Gulf Shores regions, including FL, GA, AL, TN, MS, SC, NC, LA and PR. Díaz’s many talents set her apart as a reputation warrior for Walmart’s Health & Wellness Programs with external and internal customers. She has worked tirelessly to establish Walmart as a leader in the health care industry, bringing innovative business and savings solutions to Fortune 500 companies, as well as state and locally run government institutions. Diaz was a key team member in the implementation of Walmart’s $4 Prescription Program in South Florida in September of 2006.

Díaz has worked as Director of Sales for Option Care, in which she was responsible for developing and growing the influx of infusion patients and specialty pharmacy in 52 hospitals in Florida. Prior to working for Option Care, Díaz was a Sr. Director & contract negotiator in the Network Management Division for United Health Care, one of the largest health care insurance companies in the country, where she was responsible for the negotiation and implementation of all hospital and ancillary contracts in the commercial sector, and the risk accounts for their Medicare products.

Díaz holds a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration; she has two post-graduate degrees, the first in Health Care Administration and the second in Global Management. Díaz is also a paralegal and a certified medical manager. She has been with Walmart since July 2006.

Raquel Tamez named CEO of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE).

Raquel Tamez has been named SHPE’s new CEO. Joining SHPE with a distinguished career, she has served in a number of executive leadership roles in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors, and was most recently the Chief Legal Counsel at a national nonprofit.

“After an extensive nationwide search with the assistance of Korn Ferry, a national executive search firm, the board has made an excellent choice. The search process was very rigorous and resulted in the selection of a very seasoned, exemplary candidate with a broad experience base. The board is excited and confident in Raquel’s capabilities to take SHPE to the next level during this time of significant growth for the organization,” says Board Chair Claudia Goggin.

Tamez will be responsible of developing strong relationships with SHPE members and corporate partners to increase the organization’s national presence and impact in the STEM community. Tamez will strategize on enhancing the K-12 program and developing the pipeline, innovating SHPE’s programming, and offering immersive learning experiences in order to increase and diversify the SHPE membership base.
