Maria Nardi Named Director for the Miami-Dade County Parks.
Maria Nardi has been named director for the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department. As director for the nationally accredited and Gold Medal Award-winning Parks Department, Nardi will oversee one of the largest and most diverse park systems in the country with 270 parks on 13,573 acres of land in South Florida. Miami-Dade Parks serves approximately 2.5 million residents and 10 million visitors annually.
“I am honored and thrilled to take on this new post as director of the Parks department,” Nardi shares. “These are exciting times for our community and Parks, as we are seeing the emergence of a revitalized park and open spaces system. Parks have the power to better the way we live, work, and play. I am thankful to be part of this wonderful endeavor that is transforming lives.”
Nardi, who became an assistant director for Parks’ Planning and Development division in 2015 and deputy director in 2016, has been working in executive positions at the department since 2004. In her former post as Chief of Planning and Research, she developed the Parks Open Space Master Plan. Nardi has more than 18 years of experience in the private and public sector in the fields of urban design, landscape architecture, park planning, architecture and preservation. Her work includes the role of parks/public spaces in shaping cities; the emerging evidence-based science of health and the built environment; the creation of equitable, resilient communities through parks and public spaces.

Grundfos Introduces Rebecca Martinez O’Mara as Vice President of Service for Americas.
Rebecca Martinez O’Mara recently joined Grundfos Pumps Corporation as Vice President of Service for the Americas region. Grundfos is a global leader in advanced pump solutions and a trendsetter in water technology.
In this role, O’Mara is responsible for building and executing on a regional Service strategy in alignment with the region’s overall growth strategy. O’Mara brings more than 25 years of experience leading operations, sales, product and service teams in industries ranging from manufacturing to technology.
Martinez comes to Grundfos from Sullair, where she was the Vice President and General Manager of After Sales and Service. Prior to that, she held general manager and director roles at the FIAT group and Caterpillar.

O’Mara has an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a B.S. in Finance from the University of Illinois at Chicago, as well as a six Sigma Black Belt.
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Appoints Patty Arvielo to its Consumer Advisory Board.
New American Funding, a leader in the mortgage industry, announced its Co-Founder and President, Patty Arvielo, to its Consumer Advisory Board. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) appointed Arvielo to a 3-year term as one of its new board members, who are consumer experts outside of the federal government.
“I consider it a tremendous honor to serve as a representative on the Consumer Advisory Board. I look forward to providing my industry insight and expertise to the CFPB,” says Arvielo. “I’m passionate about working together to develop solutions that impact our industry and keep our consumers safeguarded.”
As a board member, Arvielo will advise CFPB’s leadership on a broad range of consumer financial issues and emerging market trends. Arvielo brings 35 years of mortgage experience to the board, which includes managing operations and sales for New American Funding’s headquarters, 130+ branches, and 2300+ employees. This year, she won the 2017 gold Stevie® for Woman of the Year and the LA Times Latinos de Hoy Business Award.
Arvielo’s membership role on the Consumer Advisory Board begins in November.
