Recently I met up with Leylha Ahuile, a powerful Latina business owner, start-up founder, entrepreneur, and mentor. Leylha is the founder of PromoLatino, a culturally minded marketing and communications agency with expertise in reaching the Hispanic audience. She is also the founder of TintaFresca, the only publication in the U.S. dedicated to books in Spanish.
As a successful Latina business owner (several times over) and a role model for women of all backgrounds, Leylha has smart advice for Latinas who are trying to advance in their career and achieve extraordinary success: build stronger relationships. That’s not only how you change your life. That’s how you change the world.
Leylha believes that every choice you make, even if it seems insignificant at the time, could end up having a huge impact on the trajectory and the success of your career. That’s why she believes that building and nurturing relationships are the crux of everything. Anyone can master a skill, or learn how to do something, but if you don’t have a network, a team of advisors (even informally), and don’t know how to connect with people, you will only be able to go so far. However, we must be able to help others and share our knowledge with them—it is not just about asking for help but providing it as well.
Leylha’s advice for young Latinas: Speak up, learn how to promote yourself in an authentic way, master the art of nurturing your network, and know when it’s time to leave the party. You can read the full interview here: http://www.bevisible.soy/#/interview_leylha_ahuile
