“We all have our issues. We are all going to have our problems. We are going to have our obstacles. But there is one thing that you never want to do, and that is it to become a victim of your circumstances. You don’t want to become a victim of your DNA. You don’t want to become a victim of your environment. You have to take control of your own life. You have the opportunity to be all you can be POWERFULLY.”

This is the very first paragraph in “A 30-Day Guide to Your POWER – POWERFUL Outcomes through POWERFUL Words”. In my book, I want to encourage you to take steps into a journey of transformational thinking; to help you to find your joy and that you no longer believe what others think or expect. This contributes to indecision, apathy, procrastination and outright derailment of your goals. You will begin to achieve new outcomes because you are no longer grounded in limited thoughts, beliefs, and norms. And it starts with you!

Today’s Latina is a champion in business, an innovator, and can lead! A SHIFT IN POWER IS IN ORDER! And it starts with what you say and believe about yourself. As a corporate executive, entrepreneur, transitioning professional, or even a student, you must know this, “You have POWER!” No longer are those excuses acceptable such as a glass ceiling, someone else is more qualified, you are not good enough or that you are too passionate about your work that it is disruptive. Be encouraged to push past the disappointment. Distance yourself from disruptive judgement. Change your language and replace old messages with more appropriate messages that are based on your self-truth and give you POWER!

I started my first business in 2004. I faced many obstacles, but today I celebrate 14 years of entrepreneurship with two companies and a non-profit. I can celebrate these successes now, but there was a time I was void of POWER. I did all the right things; got an education, married, had children and settled in a nice suburb outside Houston. Then, my marriage began to break apart; infidelity, verbal and mental abuse and then physical abuse. I struggled with inherited cultural beliefs and norms that said that I needed to stay in the marriage for my children. My change began when I started speaking differently about myself. I began arranging my words to represent the spirit within me and who I believed myself to be. A daily affirmation that started with “I AM” spoke POWER into me.

In “A 30-Day Guide to Your POWER”, I guide you through a daily exercise called a POWER RITUAL. The POWER RITUAL is simply you stating what you want. You will use an i-ffirmation, a self-focused positive statement fixated on what you want to change in your life. Then, you use an i-ttitude, a statement of self-praise. This combined statement of i-ffirmation and i-ttitude reinforces your beliefs, values, and POWER. Your words hold the key to your POWER!
